Apple Watch camera black screen
In some cases, the Apple Watch camera may display a black screen. There are some steps that can resolve this situation. Some of these troubleshooting steps may work in your situation.
1. Update Apple Watch and iPhone
If you haven’t already, update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest compatible software versions, starting with your iPhone. To do this, open the Settings app on your iPhone and go to Software Update. There you can update iPhone software. Then open the Watch app and go to Software Update in Settings. You can also update the Apple Watch software here.
2. Close specific applications
Close specific apps and restart both your iPhone and Apple Watch. Close the Watch app and Camera app (if open) on your iPhone. Double-click the Home button, then swipe up on each app preview to close the apps.
3. Restart devices
Turn off both devices together, then restart your iPhone first. On iPhone, you can reach the restart screen by pressing and holding the screen off button on the right and the volume up button on the left at the same time. On the Watch, you can access the restart screen by pressing and holding the button at the bottom right.
4. Reconnect Apple Watch
If the problem persists, unpairing and re-pairing your Apple Watch may help. The Watch app on your iPhone automatically backs up your watch when you unpair it through the app. During initial installation, select Restore from Backup.
5. Re-pair Apple Watch
If the problem persists, consider unpairing and setting it up as a new watch instead. To do this, open the Watch app and tap the “All watches” button at the top. Here, tap the letter i button next to your current time. You can now unpair your watch from the option at the bottom.
6. Contact Apple Support
If the issue still persists, we recommend contacting Apple Support (remote diagnostics and/or mail service can be provided if necessary), booking a Genius Bar, or visiting an Apple Authorized Service Provider for assistance.
