Xiaomi is a Chinese consumer electronics company. Xioami is a Chinese manufacturer based in Beijing, founded in 2010 by Lei Jun and several others who worked for Google and Motorola China, among a few others.
Xiaomi is currently one of the world’s largest smartphone and home electronics manufacturers. The Chinese manufacturer produces its phones in China. However, recently there has been talk of the existence of production facilities in India.
Most of Xiaomi’s phones are manufactured in China by Foxconn (also Apple’s assembly plant). However, with its popularity in India, it also has factories in India.
Xiaomi is an international smartphone manufacturer founded in China and popular in South Asia, Southeast Asia and Europe.
Xiaomi launched its first smartphone in August 2011 and quickly gained market share. It managed to become China’s largest smartphone manufacturer in 2014.
Xiaomi became the world’s 1st most valuable tech startup after receiving US$4.1 billion in funding from investors, pushing Xiaomi’s valuation to over US$46 billion.
